Entry into EGS taught masters programmes are offered through the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Humanities. Three taught masters options are offered through the Department:

- MA in Environmental and Geographical Studies (through the Humanities Faculty if you have a BA Honours) or
- MSc in Environmental and Geographical Science (through the Science Faculty if you have a BSc Honours)
within this area, you specialize in either physical geography, human geography, or environmental management
- MPhil in Disaster Risk Science

 

The details of each programme are available on their site (http://www.egs.uct.ac.za). As entry into these programmes is competitive, please ensure that you consider this information carefully so that you apply to the programme that suits your interests and background best.

The requirements for application to the EGS taught masters programmes are:

  • A good honours degree or its equivalent
  • An excellent aggregate honours mark

All students are required to submit in their applications:

  • A statement of interest (1000 words, typed)
  • A copy of your honours paper/project or an equivalent writing sample
  • Two academic references (on the departmental form for MPhil in DRS and MA/MSc in EGS)
